Maghreb athletes compete in Olympics marathon
Five Maghreb runners were among the competitors in the men's Olympic marathon, held Sunday (August 12th), the last day of the London Games.
Moroccan Rachid Kisri was the top Maghreb athlete in the race, finishing 18th overall with a time of 2:15:09. He was followed by Tunisian Wissem Hosni in 71st.
Algerian Tayeb Filali, Moroccan Abderrahime Bouramdane, and Libyan Ali Mabrouk El Zaidi did not finish the race.
Uganda's Stephen Kiprotich won gold in the event, followed by Kenyans Abel Kirui with silver and Wilson Kipsang Kiprotich with bronze.
