A Network of 25 Associations to Defend Peace in Algeria
A network of 25 national associations was created to develop peace in Algeria. Saida Ben Habiless, head of the Association of Rural Women and founding member of the new network, said that this initiative was a follow-up to last month's International Conference of Women Defending Peace in Geneva. She added that the network's agenda included general amnesty, an issue that President Abdelaziz Bouteflika intends to take up with the people.
"We want the voice of women to be heard in the settlement of peace, like they have been in the vanguard during the war on terror," said Habiless. (El Khabar)
