Nearly a half-million Malians have been displaced by the crisis in their country, a United Nations report said on Wednesday (August 15th).
"As of August 10th, 2012, the complex emergency in Mali had displaced an estimated 435,624 people," the Office for the Co-ordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said.
"Of these, 261,624 refugees from Mali have registered with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in neighbouring countries and 174,000 are internally displaced," the UN agency said.
More than 100,000 people had fled Timbuktu, Gao and Kidal, the report said.
