Foreign hostages appear in AQIM video
A Briton and a Swede held hostage in Mali have appeared in a YouTube video, marking the first "proof of life" offered by al-Qaeda since last year, The Telegraph reported on Tuesday (July 17th).
Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) abducted Stephen McGown and Johan Gustafsson from a Timbuktu restaurant on November 25th. A German national died during the Mali kidnappings.
In April, AQIM offered to free the British hostage if the UK deported radical Jordanian cleric Abu Qatada to an "Arab spring country".

There are no terrorists; there are big bandits thirsty for money. Besides this, the Arab dictatorships use this term, “terrorists”, in order to stay in power and please the West.
