Tunisian Salafist Front holds first congress
The Salafist Reform Front met for the first time in Tunis on Sunday (July 8th) to urge Tunisian authorities to renounce the separation of politics and religion, AFP reported
Mohamed Khouja, head of the Islamist movement made legal in March, told AFP the call was being made to the constituent assembly "that sharia be inscribed as the sole source of legislation" in Tunisia.
Some 300 members of the Reform Front gathered to discuss proposals for turning Tunisia into an Islamic state.
In March, the Ennahda party assured its coalition partners that sharia would not be inscribed in Tunisian law.
