Malian FM arrives in Algiers
Malian Foreign Minister Sadio Lamine Sow arrived in Algiers on Sunday (July 1st), Liberte reported. During his 3-day visit, Sow will reportedly meet with Algerian officials to discuss the escalating crisis in northern Mali.
Burkinabe Foreign Minister Jibril Bassole and Malian Interim Prime Minister Cheick Modibo Diarra also made separate visits to Algeria during the last fortnight.
Burkina Faso was designated by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to mediate in Mali, while Diarra reportedly sought Algerian mediation between Bamako and the Touaregs.
