ECOWAS mediators meet Touareg rebels
A delegation from Mali's Touareg rebel National Movement for the Liberation of the Azawad (MNLA) said on Saturday (June 9th) that they were ready for negotiations with the Economic Community of West Africa (ECOWAS) and the international community, AFP reported.
A MNLA delegation led by Ibrahim Ag Mohamed Assaleh met Burkinabe President and ECOWAS mediator Blaise Compaore for the first time on Saturday in Ouagadougou.
"We really accept ECOWAS' and the international community's mediation in order to end the crisis," the Touareg rebel negotiator was quoted as saying.
