Tunisian television station Al Hiwar Attounsi was attacked and vandalised, Tunisia-Live reported on Monday (May 28th).

"They could have taken the plasma TV screens or the expensive computers, but they just took stuff that we use to do reports. Their intention was never to steal things… they just wanted to paralyse the station," senior editor Aymen Rezgui said about the Saturday attack.

According to Rezgui, the assault was a reaction of "bearded men" to a May 26th report on the "series of alarming incidents that involved Salafists" in Mahdia, Jendouba, and Kef.

The station has received death threats by post, phone, email, fax and on its Facebook page, he said.
