Al-Qaeda assassins appeal Mauritania sentences
A Nouakchott appellate court on Sunday (May 13th) resumed the trial of three men convicted last year for the 2009 murder of an American NGO worker, Mauritanie-web reported. Mohamed Abdallahi Ould Ahmednah was sentenced to death for killing Christopher Leggett, while Didi Ould Bezeid and Mohamed Mahmoud Ould Khouna received prison terms for providing logistical support.
Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb claimed responsibility for killing the 39-year-old language and IT teacher in the Nouakchott neighbourhood of Ksar.
