Morocco dismantles AQIM-linked terror cell
Moroccan authorities announced Saturday (May 5th) that they dismantled a terror cell linked to al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM). The network, run by a leading figure of the "Mujahideen in Morocco" – a little-known group with ties to international terrorism – was active in several Moroccan cities, according to the interior ministry.
The group leader was the subject of several national and international arrest warrants for involvement in terrorism and is suspected of arms smuggling, a security source told AFP.
