NTC chief vows no government shake-up before election
Libya will make no changes to the interim government before the constituent assembly elections in June, National Transitional Council (NTC) chief Mustafa Abdel Jalil said on Sunday (April 29th).
"Because of concerns about stability and building the state during this delicate stage... and to guarantee the success of the election... the council has decided to keep on the interim government," NTC chief Mustafa Abdel Jalil told reporters in Tripoli.
Abdel Jalil's declaration smashed widespread expectations that there would be a cabinet reshuffle. Several NTC members recently criticised interim Prime Minister Abdurrahim El Keib and threatened a no-confidence vote.
Abdel Jalil said the government should "focus its efforts" on security, arms control, border security, assistance to wounded rebels and the decentralisation of power.
