Moroccan journalist Rachid Nini ends prison term
Moroccan free speech and human rights activists gathered Saturday (April 28th) at the home of Al Massae editor Rachid Nini to celebrate his release from prison, Al Jazeera reported on Saturday (April 28th).
"I denounce my imprisonment and conviction under the penal code, and I hope I am the last journalist to be tried under it," the editor of the Arabic-language daily told supporters.
Nini was sentenced to one year in prison last June, following his conviction for disinformation and other charges related to published allegations about Moroccan security authorities.
