Jailed Moroccan rapper draws international support
Human Rights Watch on Wednesday (April 18th) called on Morocco to free a dissident rapper detained since the end of March for allegedly insulting the police in a song. A Casablanca court on Monday postponed the trial of Mouad Belghouat, known as "El-Haqed", until April 25th.
"This case is about freedom of expression pure and simple," HRW said in a statement.
Belghouat, a member of the youth-led 20 February Movement (M20F), is known for songs that focus on injustice and inequality.
