UN chief calls for Tindouf census

  • 2

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Monday (April 9th) asked Morocco and the Polisario to continue Western Sahara talks, MAP reported. He also renewed his call for a census in the Tindouf refugee camps in Algeria.

"In light of the on-going efforts of my Personal Envoy [Christopher Ross], I recommend that the Security Council extend the mandate of the UN Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) for a further 12 months until April 30, 2013," Ban said.

Allow me to give my opinion on Algerian-Moroccan relations in particular. Since the Makhzen is always looking to find lice on the Great Algeria, I think that we are quite far from being equals. Algeria has gone through a real war against terrorism. It was nearly eradicated from the world map, but thanks to its army with President Zeroual at its head, it was able to overcome this phenomenon, which cost us the price of 200,000 deaths. At that precise point in time, Morocco imposed entry visas on its Algerian brothers. Now, the Makhzen are asking for the border to be opened. That is called greed. No to opening the border. No to drugs. No to Moroccan expansionism! Algeria remains and will remain strong thanks to its men and its army. Long live Algeria! Glory to our martyrs!
