Clinton urges deeper Maghreb reforms
US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Saturday (February 25th) urged Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco to maintain the momentum of the Arab Spring through deepened democratic reforms, AFP reported. On a Maghreb tour after Friday's "Friends of Syria" conference in Tunisia, Clinton said: "My message is the same: the people of the Maghreb are as talented, creative and hard working as people anywhere in the world; they need and deserve to make decisions on behalf of themselves because that is good for the dignity and rights of every individual and it's good for every society."
Clinton pledged US assistance to Tunisia. "I come with a very specific and committed statement of support about the political and economic reforms that are occurring here," she said after talks with Tunisian President Moncef Marzouki.
