'Attounissia' chief freed on bail
A Tunisian court on Thursday (February 23rd) freed the owner of Arabic-language daily newspaper Attounissia until his March 8th hearing, TAP reported. Nassridine Ben Saida and two Attounissia editors were arrested last week for publishing a photo of Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira and his semi-nude model girlfriend. Prosecutors released the two editors, but Ben Saida had remained in custody on charges of violating public decency.
The International Federation of Journalists and Reporters Without Borders had called for the immediate release of Ben Saida, voicing concerns over the future of press freedom in Tunisia.
