Libya adheres to election timeline
The head of Libya's election commission confirmed that the country's first constituent assembly poll would be held in June, AFP reported on Sunday (February 19th).
"The elections will be held on schedule as set by the constitutional declaration" of the National Transitional Council (NTC), Othman Al Kajiji told Libyan state news agency LANA.
In August, the NTC said that the first constituent assembly would be held eight months after the country declared its "liberation". Libya's official liberation was declared on October 23rd; the elections are slated for the last week of June.
