Libya approves multi-party system
Libya's National Transitional Council (NTC) on Wednesday (January 4th) agreed to permit the creation of new political parties. The NTC voted to repeal a 1972 law that "considered forming political parties as criminal and which was imposed by the despotic regime of Kadhafi to enforce his views by force in Libya", Libyan state news agency WAL editorialised. Several new political parties have already been founded, particularly in Benghazi, the Tripoli Post reported.
