Saadi Kadhafi attempted Mexico escape
Moamer Kadhafi's third son planned to escape with his family to Mexico, Atlas Info quoted Mexican Interior Secretary Alejandro Poire as saying on Wednesday (December 7th).
"On September 6th, intelligence services uncovered a plot for the illegal entry of Saadi Kadhafi and his family. The government dismantled an international network that claimed to provide them with false identities in Mexico," Poire said at a press conference in Mexico City.
A human-smuggling ring involving people from different nationalities, including Mexicans, Canadians and a Dane, had bought properties in Mexico to be used as "safe houses", AFP reported. The traffickers planned to use private flights to fly Kadhafi's relatives to an area on Mexico's Pacific coast, the official said.
Saadi Kadhafi, 38, a former football player and businessman, fled Libya across its southern frontier to Niger in August.
