Libya allies propose new multi-national force
Libya's military allies on Wednesday (October 26th) discussed setting up a multi-national force to replace NATO in Libya, Al Jazeera reported. Gathered in Doha for the first "Conference of Friends" since Moamer Kadhafi's death, the military leaders heard Qatari Major-General Hamad bin Ali al-Attiyah's proposal for the 13 partner states to help Libyan authorities meet security challenges after the end of the NATO campaign. The new alliance would also assist with training and the collection of weapons.
Earlier Wednesday, Libyan National Transitional Council head Mustafa Abdel Jalil told the Doha gathering that the NTC wanted the NATO campaign to continue until the end of the year.
