Medelci slams Aicha Kadhafi audiotape
Algerian Foreign Minister Mourad Medelci on Saturday (September 24th) characterised Aicha Kadhafi's remarks to a Syrian satellite television channel as "unacceptable", APS reported. In an audio recording aired on Friday, Moamer Kadhafi's daughter accused Libya's new leaders of being traitors. Medelci declared that Algeria would undertake actions to prevent such behaviour in the future.
Speaking from New York, where he was attending the UN General Assembly, Medelci reiterated Algeria's commitment to helping Libya's National Transitional Council (NTC) rebuild their country, He and said he would inform the UN Security Council about Algeria's position on Aicha Kadhafi's statement.
Aicha was among several members of the Kadhafi family who fled to Algeria on August 29th. Kadhafi's wife Saifa and sons Hannibal and Mohamed, along with their children and chauffeurs, were also given refuge in Algeria for "humanitarian reasons".
