The UN Security Council is expected to vote Friday (September 16th) on a British resolution to ease Libya assets and arms sanctions, AFP reported. The draft also calls for setting up a UN mission to help Libya's National Transitional Council (NTC) prepare for elections and a new constitution.

A high-level meeting will also be held next Tuesday on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session to assess the situation in Libya, DPA quoted UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon as saying on Thursday. Ban said that the 15-nation Security Council will likely agree to deploy the UN support mission to help the NTC.
