Western Sahara talks resume next week
The 7th round of unofficial, UN-brokered Western Sahara negotiations between Morocco and the Polisario will begin June 5th in Manhasset, New York, MAP reported on Thursday (May 26th). UN Western Sahara Envoy Christopher Ross, as well as observers Algeria and Mauritania, will attend the talks. The parties will "examine possible measures of conciliation and the avoidance of acts of provocation", UN spokesperson Martin Nesirky said, noting that the talks are the first to be held since the renewal of the UN Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) mandate.
