Algerian paramedics mount new strike
The Algerian paramedics' union (SAP) launched an indefinite strike on Tuesday (February 8th). SAP chief Lounès Ghachi told APS that a meeting with health ministry officials on Sunday "did not lead to an agreement". The union staged a 2-day walkout last week to demand that the government comply with its promise to implement a salary-related "special status" change. Last year, Algerian public-sector physicians held a series of strikes and protests to demand similar status amendments.
