Moroccans shortlisted for 2011 Arabic Fiction prize
Two Moroccans are among six finalists for the 2011 International Prize for Arabic Fiction, contest organisers announced Thursday (December 9th) in Doha. Former Moroccan Culture Minister Mohamed Achaari was nominated for "The Arch and the Butterfly", which addresses Islamic extremism and terrorism. Bensalem Himmich was selected for "My Tormentor". The winner will be named March 14th during the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair. The prize is supported by the Booker Prize Foundation and funded by the Emirates Foundation for Philanthropy.
