The US-Maghreb Entrepreneurship Conference opened Wednesday in Algiers. "Our objective is to set up contact between the private sectors on both sides to share ideas, know-how and skills to create new business opportunities and jobs in the Maghreb countries, especially for those between 18 and 35," US Assistant Secretary for Economic, Energy and Business Affairs Jose W. Fernandez told reporters.

The conference will help "business partners, universities and government agencies in North Africa and the United States to work more closely together to promote economic opportunities" and reduce Maghreb youth unemployment, the US Embassy in Algiers said in a statement. The two-day event is organised by the US State Department and the US-Algeria Business Council.
