Africa-Europe Youth Summit slated for Tripoli
The 2nd Africa-Europe Youth Summit opens in Tripoli on November 26th, PANA reported on Monday (November 22nd). The 2-day event, organised by the European Youth Forum and the North South Centre, will offer youth organisations the opportunity to discuss regional and global issues. The event aims at promoting Euro-African youth co-operation, as part of the Africa-EU strategic partnership.
The event will be followed by another major summit. Three years after African Union and European Union member nations held their first regional meeting in Lisbon, some 80 heads of state and government leaders will gather in Tripoli on November 29th. Held under the theme "Investment, Economic Growth and Job Creation", the event will focus on a 2011-2013 action plan. Discussions will reportedly include the illegal immigration issue and the need for development projects in the harragas' home countries.
