Jailed Al Massae journalists win Morocco appeal
A Moroccan appellate court on Tuesday (January 5th) freed two journalists jailed since last November for publishing "false information", MAP reported. Al Massae editor Rachid Nini and reporter Said Laajal were convicted for reporting that the alleged head of a drug trafficking network had discussed the involvement of a judicial official. The court also reduced fines imposed on the journalists. According to AFP, Al Massae is the biggest-selling daily in Morocco.
