Algeria seeks to avert teachers' strike
In an effort to prevent a strike by secondary school teachers, Algeria will open a dialogue with several of their autonomous unions, Tout sur l'Algerie quoted Education Minister Aboubekeur Benbouzid as saying on Saturday (October 31st). The CNAPEST, CLA and SNAPEST unions plan to begin a simultaneous strike on November 8th. The teachers seek a review of wages, benefits, and what they claim is an overloaded curriculum caused by the change in week-end days.
