Locusts threaten Morocco, UN warns
The first signs of locust contamination are appearing in parts of southern Morocco and the Sahara, AFP reported on Friday (October 16th). Last week, Mauritanian officials announced increased locust populations in several areas. In 2004, a large-scale locust infestation destroyed Mauritanian crops and pastures.
