Mauritanian opposition deputies boycott parliamentary session

A sit-in by Mauritanian deputies from the opposition FNDD and RFD parties on Monday (May 11th) prevented parliament from convening, local and international press reported. The protestors demanded that the session be dedicated to the political crisis in the country and refused to leave the parliamentary chamber. The protest, in which some 20 elected deputies participated, is the first of its kind in Mauritania, Journal Tahalil reported.
