Japanese cable plants to create 6,000 Tunisian jobs
Japanese groups Sumitomo and Yazaki will build new cable production plants in Tunisia, generating 6,000 jobs, TAP reported on Wednesday (October 1st). The country currently produces 2% of the world's total automotive wire and cable and is the sixth largest provider of car cables to Europe, for brands such as Audi, Volkswagen, Mercedes, Renault and Fiat. Some 65 foreign car cable companies from Germany, France and Italy are operating already in Tunisia, and the sector employs 25,418 people.
