Strong Algerian economy could prompt revaluation of dinar

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is encouraging the Algerian government to revalue the dinar to reflect the country's booming economy, Tout sur l'Algerie reported on Sunday (August 31st). Given Algeria's record foreign exchange reserves of nearly $150 billion and strong economic indicators, the IMF reportedly finds the current valuation of 100 dinars to one euro to be too low. The IMF also supports a partial lifting of exchange controls in Algeria to encourage economic activity, the article adds.
