Amnesty International decries Tunisian prisoner's re-arrest
International human rights watchdog Amnesty International (AI) lashed out at Tunisian authorities on Tuesday (July 8th) for allegedly subjecting Tunisian dissidents to reprisals and harassing their attorneys. In a statement, AI said that alleged torture victim Ziad Fakraoui was re-arrested on June 25th, two days after the NGO published a report in which he was mentioned. AI urged the Tunisian government to grant Ziad Fakraoui immediate and regular access to his lawyer and ensure that he is not tortured or otherwise ill-treated in detention.
