African, South American trade ministers hold first joint conference in Morocco
African and South American trade ministers ended their first conference Thursday (June 19th) in Marrakesh with an agreement to work within the World Trade Organisation (WTO) to promote a multilateral trade system, MAP reported. The 3-day gathering focused on trade issues such as transport, taxes, banning protectionism and ways to boost bilateral trade volume. Moroccan Trade Minister Abdellatif Maazouz also presented Morocco's proposal for an international fund aimed at mitigating global price instability and its impact on the economies of the countries on both continents.
