Mediterranean Energy Observatory General Assembly meets in Algiers
The Mediterranean Energy Observatory (OME) opened its annual General Assembly in Algiers on Wednesday (June 27th). The OME was created 19 years ago to co-ordinate co-operation among Mediterranean energy firms. The assembly's agenda for the two-day summit includes reviewing the organisation's work programme, approving the 2006 account statements, and debating possible joint projects in energy security. The meeting will be the chaired by the CEO of Italy's power giant Enel, Piero Gnudi, who is also OME's acting president for 2005-2007. In addition to Enel, Algeria's Sonatrach and Sonelgaz, Gaz de France, Spain's Cepsa and international industrial and services group Suez will be in attendance.
