The 22nd meeting of the Tunisian-American joint military commission was held in Tunis on Wednesday (May 23rd). The event was co-chaired by Tunisian defence minister Kamel Morjane and Theresa Whelan, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for African Affairs. The talks focused on defence co-operation and joint efforts to combat the threat of terrorism in the world. Whelan expressed satisfaction with the talks, stressing that Tunisia and the US share common positions on global security issues. She highlighted the need for this co-operation to continue given Tunisia's strategic role on the African continent.
