MedOil starts seismic survey on Tunisian oil field
London-based oil and gas exploration company, MedOil, announced on Tuesday (15 August) that it has begun a three-dimensional seismic survey at its Louza Permit in Tunisia. The survey will be carried by TGS-NOPEC through the Scan Resolution seismic vessel, which should prepare a map of the 600 square kilometres of oil volume potential of the M'Sela -1 'Abiod Formation field.
The company also will test four other separate exploration prospects in the area and a potentially large stratigraphic trap in the Isis Formation. MedOil said the survey should add confidence to the technical analysis of the defined prospects and determine the location of a near-term appraisal-drilling programme around the oil discovery. The survey will conclude in 4-6 weeks. (Dow Jones Newswires)
