Rabat to host NATO meeting with Mediterranean countries
NATO will hold its first meeting in an Arab country next month when it stages talks with seven Mediterranean partners in Morocco. NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer will chair the two-day Rabat session, beginning on 6 April. It will bring together ambassadors of the 26-nation Alliance with ambassadors and political leaders from Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Morocco, Mauritania, and Tunisia. The meeting is expected to discuss the Mediterranean Dialogue, which NATO wants to turn into a genuine partnership. (Reuters, MAP)
