Tunisia, Italy to co-operate on social welfare issues
Tunisian Social Affairs Minister Ali Chaouch met on Wednesday (1 February) in Rome with Italian Welfare Minister Roberto Maroni to discuss the current state of bilateral co-operation on welfare and how to further progress. At the end of the meeting, the parties signed a bilateral action plan covering 2006-08, which involves information exchange and good practice with regards to integration policies aimed at the disabled and immigrants.
Maroni and Chaouch also agreed to promote co-operation between regional and international districts in keeping with the Euro-Med "5+5" agenda. The 5+5 dialogue, an instrument for informal political dialogue, brings together Algeria, France, Italy, Libya, Malta, Mauritania, Morocco, Portugal, Spain, and Tunisia. (AGI)
