On Tuesday (24 January), Lord Mayor of London David Brewer kicked off a three-day visit to Algiers, which aims at strengthening economic ties between the two countries. His delegation included representatives of financial institutions, trade banks, and insurance companies such as Standard Bank, United Insurance Brokers and Barclays. "We expect to work in close co-operation with Algeria and to exchange experience in the economic and commercial fields. We also wish to explore the possibilities for our two governments in other fields -- in particular research, education and the financial reform," said Shikha Tiwari, head of the commercial office of the British embassy in Algiers.
