United States welcomes Moroccan report on human rights violations
The United States has welcomed the findings and recommendations published by the Moroccan Equity and Reconciliation Commission upon finishing its investigation of human rights violations that occurred in Morocco between 1956 and 1999. "The Commission's reporting and recommendations demonstrate the Kingdom of Morocco's willingness to contemplate serious reform," said State Department spokesman Sean McCormack. He also urged Morocco to implement reforms to "enhance transparency, the rule of law, and respect for human rights across Morocco" and nearby regions. (US Info, Morocco Times)
