Algerian NGO's experience in human rights, combating terrorism discussed in Cairo

Algerian Employment and National Solidarity Minister Djamel Ould Abbas spoke on the experience of Algerian civil society organisations in the fight against terrorism and human rights on Monday (19 December) in Cairo, during an international conference on democracy and human rights. He stressed that such organisations have played an important part in the eradication of the roots of terrorism, thanks to different awareness actions.

The conference, an unprecedented event in the Middle East, was organised in co-operation with the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa, delegations from the UN and UNESCO, Arab country representatives, and representatives of regional NGOs attended the conference -- which aims at shedding light on ways to foster democracy in the Arab world, combat terrorism and broadenthe role of women in the society.
