Prime Minister of Libya

Dr. Baghdadi Mahmudi was born in approximately 1945. As deputy secretary-general of Libya's General People's Committee for Production Affairs, he oversaw a manmade river project and a railways project. A medical doctor, Mahmudi served as health minister prior to becoming deputy prime minister in June 2003. He was promoted to prime minister 5 March 2006 as part of a major cabinet reshuffle. In his new position, one focus will be privatising schools, hospitals and hotels.
