Abdelwahab Abdallah

Foreign Minister of Tunisia

Abdelwahab Abdallah was one of nine new ministers named in a cabinet reshuffling by President Ben Ali on 17 August 2005.

He has been a close aide to the president since 1990 and is a member of the Constitutional Democratic Rally party central committee. Prior to the foreign minister appointment, he was the top advisor to the president.

Before Ali came to power in 1987, Abdallah was Minister of Information for Habib Bourguiba. From 1988-90, he was ambassador to Britain.
