Pharaohs' fans attack Algerian website

2009-09-17

Supporters of Egypt's national football team reportedly mounted a cyber-attack Wednesday night (September 16th) on Algerian daily Echorouk, posting Pharaohs slogans on the newspaper's website and disrupting online services. The cyber-battle follows Algeria's win over Egypt in the June 7th World Cup qualifier.

I am Canadian of Algerian origin. I have never felt myself pulled between these two. Algeria is my homeland and Egypt is [that of] our brothers. So, this is nothing more than a football game. I love Algeria. I love Egypt too. May God bless us all, God willing. Do not fall into this trap. I am sure that there is at least one Egyptian who thinks like I do. I have tears in my eyes. -Karim

e sallam aalaikoum ,Egypt is a major country in the actual world and it's football is one of the best in the world.I am algerian and I always supported Egypt thinking that they are our brothers and sisters and that they have the capacity to represent the Arabic world very well.BUT if this time they will face a team who have more chance to qualify for the world cup THEN Algeria have to prouve that during the world cup they WILL WIN IT.BECAUSE if THE Egyptian team qualify they have a big chance to get to the final.I hope that who ever win needS to represent our world (arabic +Muslim) the best of their ability. We will all of us Egyptian ,Algerian ,Marrocan ,Tunisian , Lybian , soudaniese ,Tchadian, Malian, mauritanian,,,,etc be proud to keep for the first TIME this famous world cup in our Continant AFRICA .Don't forget THAT WE ARE BROTHERS AND SISTERS AND EVER WINS IT IS USSSSSSSSSSSSS...

Enter safe into Egypt, if Allah pleases. God speaks the truth. Egypt is the mother of the world. All prophets passed through it. It is the country of safety and security, which you won't find in Morocco, Algeria, Libya or Tunisia. There are always enemies of success who wish the successful to be like them. The Egyptian team is successful, the champion of Africa, the holder of the African Cup the last two times... No one denies this. Egypt is the land of civilisation, pyramids and archaeological temple sites. No one denies this. Egypt is the land of the honourable Al Azhar, the major light of Islam... No one denies this as well. It is Egypt which helped Arabs towards independence from the Occupation and is still doing so. So Egypt is really mother of the world. May God protect you for disrespecting the mother of the world, our mother and your mother as well.

We are all with the brotherly Algerian team. We hope the Algerian team will win 2-0. I hope the players will be calmer, as well as the fans in the stands. They should not allow in for any nervous opportunity through which fans or players of Egypt can infiltrate, especially because they are known for their violence and disorder. The biggest catalyst for violence and disorder is the game of the Egyptian media outlets and the stirred-up controversy. However, what Egyptian hooligans did against the Algerian delegation shows their base and uncivilised level. They are good at throwing stones at their Arab brothers.
