For Algeria, good luck at Tchaker, bad luck at Zambia's Chililabombwe

2009-06-15

Algeria will play their World Cup qualifiers at the newly-renovated July 5th Stadium in Algiers, but some Greens think that since they beat Egypt and Senegal at Mustapha Tchaker Stadium in Blida, it is not a good idea to change the winning strategy now, Goal.com reported on Monday (June 15th). "The last time we played there [at July 5th Stadium], we lost to Gambia," Bochum defender Anthar Yahia told Le Buteur.

In other news, Zambia will ensure the safety of Algerian fans when it hosts the June 20th qualifier, Echorouk quoted the Zambian football federation chief as saying on Monday (June 15th). Two years ago, 12 Zambia fans were killed in a stampede at Chililabombwe Stadium after their national team beat the Republic of Congo in a CAN qualifier.
