Algeria opens building bids for world's third-largest mosque

Algeria opened construction bids for the Djamaa El Dzajair mosque, Echorouk reported on Wednesday (October 28th). The world's third-largest mosque after Mecca and Medina will accommodate 36,000 worshippers. Plans for the 49-hectare site at Mohammadia include a 6,000-vehicle underground car park, a Qur'anic institute and a 270-metre minaret towering over the bay of Algiers.
