'5+5 Defence' meeting begins in Algiers

Top Army control officers from Mediterranean nations gathered in Algiers on Tuesday (October 6th) for their first "5+5 Defence" conference, El Moudjahid reported. Military officials from AMU countries Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Libya and Mauritania, along with their peers from France, Spain, Italy, Malta and Portugal, will focus on the use of IT technology in public security during the 2-day session. The meeting offers "an opportunity to establish the foundations for exchanging information, experience and training and to chart a policy of co-operation", the Comptroller-General of the Algerian Army, General Benattou Boumediene, said in his opening statement.
