Mauritania farmers to receive UN programme funds

Nearly 10,000 farming families in Mauritania will benefit from a $12 million agriculture support programme, the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) announced on Monday (October 5th). The money aims at fighting poverty in rural areas and diminishing the country's dependency on food imports. The project will help farmers who produce or work with milk, vegetables, dates, poultry, red meat, skins and hides, and non-timber forest products, the IFAD said
